About Us

alter/nativas, latin american cultural studies journal is a biannual, peer-reviewed, online scholarly journal associated with the Center for Latin American Studies at The Ohio State University.

We publish scholarly articles and multimedia essays on Latin American arts, literatures, films, music, performances, and other cultural practices, as well as reviews of books related to these topics. We accept texts written in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. Each issue will have a special section devoted to a specific theme, which will explore theoretical and practical articulations between the cultural, social, economic, and political realms within Latin America.

alter/nativas provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

For more information regarding submissions, please consult our guidelines. The works submitted should be original and unpublished.
